Mac OS 10.9.5- Maya Freezes On Crash

I am currently unable to launch Maya 2017- the app freezes just after the Splash Page. Have tried a fresh install with no success. Have tried rebooting with no success.

I have attached a screenshot showing the farthest I am able to boot into Maya. How can I get the app to launch?

you may have to upgrade your OS. 

The earliest Mac OS that has been qualified for Maya 2017 is 10.10.5 as is detailed here:
