Locking or Altering the Maya Hotbox

Locking or Altering the Maya Hotbox

I'm working in a scene, and i've been frequently switching to the four view then to a different perspective using the spacebar. However after a while, whenever I press space the hotbox will suddenly lock onto the screen and I can't click on anything else. This also prevents me entirely from changing perspectives using the spacebar, slowing down my general workflow. The only ways I have found to close the hotbox after it has been locked onto the screen are by saving (however the issue will of course occur again the next time I press the spacebar,) or closing Maya, and resetting the workspace preferences, which resolves the issue for a short time before it occurs again. If I press the spacebar while in the hotbox menu, it just brings up a menu to bake all the keyframes on the timeline. I'm not sure what's causing this issue or how to fix it. I'm using Autodesk Maya 2018 (Student Version) and Windows 10.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Do you have any more concrete steps to reproduce this? I've used this workflow for years and have never had issues with the hotbox locking up on a viewport.

Simple test you can try is making sure your GPU driver is the same as our certified hardware list.

You can find our certified hardware list here!

If that doesn't help, you may want to perform a clean uninstall/reinstall of Maya.

In the end I actually ended up resetting my hotkey preferences and that worked for whatever reason. The issue hasn't occurred since, so I'm not quite sure what caused it and can't test the solution.

Hmmm ok.

For now I'll mark this as solved/closed but if the issue occurs again please let me know here and we can continue troubleshooting!
