I am new to animating using Maya and I am having trouble with the skeleton of a character I have created using Autodesk Character Generator.
I downloaded the character and then imported it into my scene on Maya. I clicked Windows>Animation Editors>HumanIK and the Character View appeared. I selected the Definition tab, and none of the blocks within the body were green and a cross inside a red circle was in the top right corner (see image). I am aware that this means the skeleton is invalid, however I don’t truly know what that means. I don’t know how to make it valid and access the control panel.
I then clicked Windows>Animation Editors>Quick Rig, but that did not work. I tried to carefully follow the instructions on the Autodesk website, but they are outdated. The instructions relating to this issue were released in 2014. As I am using Maya 2018, the menus and controls are very different.
Once the skeleton is ‘green-lit’ I know what to do to animate the character, which is why this is so frustrating. If someone could help me I would be most grateful.
Thank you
Caleb

Ok....I dunno about 2018 as I'm still using 2015 however...with models from Character Generator, I usually just delete the skeleton definition in Human IK (NOT in Outliner!!!), then reload a new definition. It doesn't seem to happen often, but I have had one or two CG characters that have had issues "right out of the box".
