Hello guys!
I hope you're doing well.
I'm posting here because I have been getting a big issue with Maya for the last couple months, with my new computer ; everytime I try to render something, Maya crashes. I'm using Arnold as a renderer.
Thanks to the nicest guy I met on reddit, I was able to achieve a couple of tests that unfortunately didn't give us any answer.
I have an i9 13900k, 64GB of RAM, and a RTX 4080. I'm using Maya 2022. It is installed in my 😧 disk.
I stopped at first doing renders on my computer because of that, but after a few months I forgot about
At first I tried to render a mecha robot I made, but Maya just crashed.
Then, a bigger scene I needed for a group project at school, it crashed.
After that, I tried to render a simple cube, with an HDRi, it worked.
When I saw that, I installed Maya 2023 and the Arnold version that came with it. I installed them in my C: disk, thinking it might be the problem. Also, the preferences weren't imported from Maya 2022 and were brand new ; it crashed.
After that, we did a couple of tests ;
I rendered a simple cube, with a ai standard surface shader and an area light ; it worked.
I rendered a cube with a green standard surface shader, and a sphere with a red standard surface, it worked. But as soon as I move the light, it crashes. Here is the video ; https://youtu.be/vvdLk0FMQhI
Here is the video with my mecha robot ; https://youtu.be/4Ua-k4ueTJ4
We tried to get on some older versions of Wacom desktop, but we saw in this forum that it might be because of that ; it didn't work.
We also checked at the script inside of Maya, and it didn't write anything when I was rendering or moving the light.
The thing that we can see in the videos, is this crash message at the end ;
We also checked the arnold diagnostics, and that's all there is to it ;
I don't know if it can help, but it says Windows 10 when I'm actually on Windows 11.
So I'm coming here to ask for help, because I'd love to be able to use my computer to do my renders.
Thanks a lot for your time!

That processor has a known stability problem:
This is a known instability with Intel 13900k and 14900k CPU’s. In short, motherboard goes higher than the recommended power limit by intel, I've set up 253W as maximum, and no more issues

Hello, thank you for your answer. I'm pretty sure I already did that because of my computer crashed on games and had a really high temperature, so should I make it even lower ?
Is there anywhere where I can check, except the BIOS ? This part of my computer always scared me.
Thanks!

Hello, I was able to change some settings from what I saw on internet, in intel ETU and also in the BIOS, but I still have crashes. I can see my CPU temperature getting higher and higher, and then a crash.
Now it doesnt crash anymore with the sphere scene, just with my mecha scene with an area light and a skydome, 1080p.
Any ideas please ?
Thanks
I tried with my GPU, and it crashed too.
I tried the same scene with another computer (i7 10700k), and it works.
If someone has an idea, thanks !
