I have problem with Append to polygone tool. Could you give me your opinion?

Append to polygone tool doesn't work well.

you have reversed normals visible in your mesh, the black faces, invert those, that’s not good, ( Read about what normals are)…also you are piling up on history on an . Mb file that could get corrupted if crashed, use .ma files, make sure you enabled incremental save.Also it’s easier to select a bunch of edges at once and use the bridge tool.

Hi,

 

Yes the problem is related to the face normals. Because the normals are facing opposite directions the new polygon is twisted 180 degrees.

1) Mesh Display > Reverse can be used to flip normals on black polys.

2) Mesh Display > Conform  can be used to ensure the normals on your mesh are consistent from poly-to-poly across an entire mesh

Also, QuadDraw can be used without a live surface to quickly add bridging quads to your mesh. However, it would also require the normals to be consistently oriented. The other caveat with QuadDraw is the new polys will be flat shaded so you will have to use something like Mesh Display > Soften / Harden Edges to smooth out the shading later.
