I am trying to update to the latest version of Maya but both the Autodesk app and the product update page are only showing 2016. Is this happening because I am a student or something else? I am currently running Maya 2016 Extension 2 Service pack 6.
To my knowledge, the Desktop App will only show updates for products you have activated.
Go to the Education Site and go through the motion of downloading 2018. When it gives you your serial/product key, go to your Autodesk Account and find Maya. Select Downloads > Updates and Add-Ons > Update 2.
