Hypershade "Delete Unused Nodes" Also Deleting Distance Dimension

Hey everyone,

I've finally figured out that, for some reason, whenever I used Hypershade's Delete Unused Nodes function, it also deletes my distanceDimension node that I'm using to get measurements. How can I avoid this, and only remove unused shaders?

Thanks!

Lol, ok, good to know :). But I don't think it's just messed up prefs or a bug, as it does the same thing using Optimize Scene Size. It sees dimensions as rendering nodes?

Optimize also does not delete the distance tool.

Can confirm. Selecting Edit -> Delete unused nodes in the Hypershade window or enabling Rendering nodes in the File -> Optimize Scene Size function deletes DistanceDimension objects from scene, leaving behind an empty group and corresponding locators.

Behavior tested and confirmed across different production PCs running the same Maya version, with identical results on a new Maya scene, old Maya scene, or imported Maya scene.

Thanks for reporting.

I can confirm that measurement nodes are being classified as rendering nodes which leads to them being deleted.

I've logged a bug in our system for this but in the meantime you can prevent these nodes from being deleted by locking them using the lockNode command.
