Hydra GL viewport errors with Maya 2022

I'm running the free trial of Maya-2022 to understand the feature set of the new Maya-USD plugin. However when I switch to the "GL (Hydra)" renderer in the viewport I get errors.

For example:

// Warning: Failed to compile shader (GL_VERTEX_SHADER): ERROR: 0:3: '#extension' : 'GL_ARB_bindless_texture' is not supported
// Error: Failed verification: ' glslProgram ' -- Coding Error in _GPUFrustumNonInstanceCulling at line 1468 of S:\jenkins\workspace\ecg-usd-full-python3-windows\ecg-usd-build\usd\pxr\imaging\hdSt\indirectDrawBatch.cpp // Warning: Failed to compile shader (GL_VERTEX_SHADER): ERROR: 0:3: '#extension' : 'GL_ARB_bindless_texture' is not supported

This is from a fresh install on Windows. Cut ID: 202102181415-29bfc1879c
I have;

  • created a mayaUsdProxy node that points to the vanilla Pixar Kitchen Set
  • loaded the mtoh plugin
  • switched to the hydra viewport renderer

I've uninstalled Maya-2020 incase there was any cross over of plugins, but the result is the same.

It feels strange that your Maya installation isn't on C:\ disk.
If it's not that have you installed USD plugin on the same disk ? (S:\..)

It's definitely installed on C:\, I'm assuming that the S:\ location was the one used by the Autodesk jenkins system at compile time.

Hi Im getting similar errors, that point things to an S drive, I don't have an S and everything is installed to C:\

I really wanted to get going with USD on this release however I cant even export and stage the meshes i work with.

See errors below.

// Error: Failed verification: ' image ' -- Coding Error in _LoadTexture at line 422 of S:\jenkins\workspace\ecg-mayausd-full-2022-python3-windows\ecg-maya-usd\maya-usd\lib\mayaUsd\render\vp2RenderDelegate\material.cpp //

// Error: Invalid Hydra prim '/THIS PATH WAS THE NAME OF MESH TAKEN OUT AS OF NDA': requires 11636 vertices, while the number of elements in renderingToSceneFaceVtxIds is 11615. Skipping primvar update. -- Coding Error in _FillPrimvarData at line 166 of S:\jenkins\workspace\ecg-mayausd-full-2022-python3-windows\ecg-maya-usd\maya-usd\lib\mayaUsd\render\vp2RenderDelegate\mesh.cpp //
