How to match XGen Description Displacement to my Object Displacement?

What the title says.

So say for example's sake, I have a cube with a displacement map (an .exr file). My displacement values on my cube are Height:3, Bounds Padding :1, and Scalar Zero: 0.5.

I've created a description for this cube, I've attached the displacement map file to the Ptex displacement, and I'm getting the primitives to follow a pattern similar to my displacement, however the values are off. The primitives don't always match the surface, sometimes they float in the air, and sometimes they are buried.

I have found a similar post here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-forum/xgen-and-displacement/td-p/6710071

and I've tried the expression suggested but no luck. See images. edit: I've painted the roots green to make evident how much they bury or float. Sorry for the low quality render, I do what I can. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Can anyone help or give me a clue?
