How to Change Background Color in Menu-set Menu?

I figured out how to set a light theme by adding the -style <style> switch in the icon properties. However, the menu-set menu now has black text against a dark gray background. It also affect the text in the 'live surface' text box as well as a number of dialog windows.

Anyone know how to change these colors? Either the text or the background.

Where I've looked for answers so far (and found none):

• Autodesk online docs and help,
• Windows (menu) > Settings/Preferences > Color Settings,
• Google,
• Youtube...

If it matters, I'm running Maya 2020 trial version on Windows 10.

I also would very much like to know... either lighter text or lighter menu-set background? I way prefer the plastique scheme to default Maya UI but the dark text on dark background in menus is distracting
