Not as good as the old File Texture Manager script but still a necessary part of Maya that had been overlooked for way too long.

The only catch is it doesn't work.

I need to repath multiple textures in several files to my client's directory structure. The path editor refuses to make the change since it can't resolve the path, the path change either fails altogether or when requested the path reverts back to the last resolved path.

Is there a way to make this work?

Hi @magillaGuerilla

It sounds like its not working because you aren't on the clients machine. I'd say your best bet would be to have the client do it themselves or possibly remotely log in on to their machine so you can do it yourself and avoid any mistakes they make.

Sadly if that's not possible you may be stuck having to manually change the path.

Hope this helps!

Sean you have hit the nail on the head, but it doesn't seem to be very user friendly to lock the user out of making changes beacuse "Autodesk knows best". Particularly when it's only replacing a string of text.

My clients aren't always well versed in how to use Maya and it seems very amateurish to have to ask them to do this because the software is limited in its function.

As mentioned, the File Texture Manager script (which has been around for more than five years) has no such problems and more functionality. Is there some specific reason why all of that functionality wouldn't be incorporated or why it would be difficult to simply notify the user that the path is not resoloved (with a red cross) rather than automatically revert to the previously resolved path?
