File not loading correctly - but only on Mac

Ok so I am a university student that uses Maya 2016 educational on my Windows 10 PC at home.

I have created a character in that environment that's fully rigged. However, the Mac computers at uni do not load this character. They stop loading it after the first eyeball, and then just leave it at that, without so much as an error to let me know what happened.

Can anyone with a Mac try loading the attached file and let me know if the mesh, layers, blendshapes and controls all load? If they do, please let me know so that I know it's a problem with these computers and I can see if the tech guy can fix it.

If not, does anyone know what the problem is?! This is really problematic because I need to use the render farm here in order to get my short film finished in time for submission :S

Oh also, the Macs here have Maya 2016 and Maya 2016.5 - neither open this file.

Good grief. Even Firefox is messed up on these computers - post page didn't work right so the file didn't upload. Using Safari now.

And here is a screenshot of the file as it opens on the computers here.

It seems to be the same error as this one: http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php?t-989628.html

There is a group created called _Unknown_Ref_Node_fosterparent1

What does this mean? Is it fixable?

Hi!

Without a Mac i can't help you on this.

But you can try to find out on your own what's going on.

Just segment your file in different pieces and look which of them is affected by this error and which opens fine.

For example: remove all Mesh Objects and skinning and look if the joints alone open fine.

If they do not, remove some of the joints and try again.

If the joints alone work fine go 1 step back and remove only some meshes and try again to find out which one causes the error.
