Extension 2 - Selection glitches in Viewport 2.0

Since installing Extension 2 I've noticed abnormal or inaccurate viewport selection issues. In the image below, with that surface selected if I then shift-select the center cube, half of the time it works, and half of the time everything is deselected, as if I clicked into empty space.

I have a Quadro K2200 with the latest drivers installed, 362.56. This may be tied to Viewport 2.0, as I haven't been able to reproduce it when switching to Legacy default viewport.

@arcon76

Can you please send me a PM with a link to that file, I want to do some testing on my end.  This way I can video myself working with it and if the issue is reproducible, I can escalate it along with video of myself getting the issue as you are to the Maya Development Team.  Thank you again for letting us know of this issue.  I look forward to your reply.  (this could very well be a Viewport 2.0 issue and also a drivers issue)  (can you give me more specs on your system?  graphics drivers, OS, etc..)  Thanks

I can only see some difficulties in selecting when trying to select objects that have very few edges and there are objects behind it with with many more.  As you have said, it looks at though it is selecting based on wire frame selection.  I will look into this and see if this is a documented bug or not, or if there has been a change in VP2.0.  Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Any update on this? This basically makes Viewport 2.0 unusable...

After all this time this has been fixed. In preferences you can enable "Camera Based Selection", which produces the correct behavior of previous Maya versions.

There is literally zero reason you would want to select objects behind the foreground object which you couldn't see [in shaded mode], so whoever at Autodesk decided that should be the default setting should be slapped lol.

I take that back, Camera Based Selection destroys component based selection, eg. verts.

Autodesk you really need to sort your s!@$ out.
