i've seen maya extension 2 and i'm interested in using it. But i've a few questions:- question 1 : if i'm using it, does maya extension 1 still can be opened? For example, related with layer setting. question 2 : Does pc with maya extension 1 can open files that i've created with maya extension 2? question 3 : Which one is better? Maya ext. 1 or Maya ext. 2?

Yes you can still open EXT1 with EXT2 installed, however it may initially ask you to re-enter your license key.

You can open EXT2 files in EXT1, however you will get many script errors. This is because of the new layer system and other new features in EXT2 which are not backwards compatible. A plain generic scene may load and be usable but expect to get bombarded with warning messages.

EXT2 has cool new features, but brings a lot more bugs and performance issues compared to EXT1 (it is essentially a beta), so unless you specifically need the new motion graphics feature I would avoid it and see how 2017 turns out.
