Expression Editor Error - Will Not Load! (?)

Using Maya 2016 on Mac OSX 10.11.2
My Expression Editor will not load -

// Error: file: /Applications/Autodesk/maya2016/Maya.app/Contents/scripts/others/expressionEditor.mel line 2221: Object 'EEmultiText' not found.

I have found forums suggesting to find the Maya 2016 folder and then Preference Folder and clear it but I cannot find any such folder -

I have even uninstalled and reinstalled Maya but no success -

Help!

Well I did see that solution but it wasn't working - it wasn't working because in the string /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/maya/<version>/for some reason Mac decides the 'Library' folder is to be hidden - once I figured how to unhide it I was able to sovlve the problem

But thanks for replying!

I'm glad you asked because I've long forgot and had to relearn it- and be aware I am in OS X (El Capitan 10.11.6) but should work regardless

Open MAC 'Finder' > click on your user name > you now see all folders but maybe the 'Library" is not there so (with three button mouse) > Right click in blank area under all the 'User Name' folders and an 'Option Menu' will pop open > Then choose 'Show View Option' > Another menu window opens and at the bottom you should see 'Show Library Folder' > Click the little box next to 'Show Library Folder' > You should see "library" folder appear in your 'User' menu

I hope this works for you and you can sigh in relief
