Error Message Importing Fibermesh Guide Curves / Maya 2025 / XGen

Hi,

Seeking any help please with the following....trying to import .ma file format.

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2025/scripts/others/performFileAction.mel line 64: No translator found.

------------------------------

I installed Maya 2025 for a trial yesterday because I'm interested in utilizing XGen.
Currently using ZBrush Fibermesh as my main workflow.

Started watching some tutorials regarding importing fibermesh guide curves but at the moment I am unable to import the file and get an error message.

Exporting from ZBrush 2022.0.7  in .ma format.

Based on a preliminary research into this I have looked under:
Windows/Settings & Preferences/Plug-in Manager

But not sure what I am looking for here, at assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also having the exact same issue. Wondering if anyone found a fix for it.

Hi,

I only had the trial for one month because I wanted to test a workflow.
Sorry, I don't know if the issue has been resolved.

Just found a solution, and I’m not sure it was ever broken.

When importing the ZBrush curves in .ma format, go to import options and scroll down, I believe it’s the second option below the default (not at computer right now).

That's good news 🙂 and thank you for your feedback.

I was wondering, as I no longer have the trial version to test this. When you are your PC could you confirm this solution works for me please.

I have the solution: you need to install the FBX options in Maya. To do this, go to Window < Preferences < Plug-in Manager, find FBX and click Load, then Auto-Load.

Hi Alizee,

Thank you for replying to this...good to know there's a fix, thank you.

I never went past the trial stage of Maya because my main focus was this particular workflow.
