Displayed Distance from Camera is given in inches instead of centimeters

I have a weird problem. I want to render a scene using Depth Of Field. In my Preferences Settings the Working Units are set to centimeters.

However the Distance From Camera (as shown by the Heads Up Display - Object Details) for the object I want to focus on seems to be given in inches, and the camera uses centimeters. So when I use the number displayed to focus on an object, the object renders out blurry, out of focus. When I multiply that number by 2.54  however the object is in focus.

I tried changing the Preferences Settings to inches, but that didn't solve it because in the Heads Up Display the Distance From Camera number changed too so that I still have to multiply it.

So the problem seems to exist in the Object Details section in the Heads Up Display.

Is there a setting somewhere I may have overlooked?

Solved it. The assumed centimeters/inches correlation was just coincidental. It was caused by the camera being scaled down. Rescaled it back to the original size and the object was in focus again.
