Delete user prefs on Mac OS Student version

I cannot for the life of me find where the prefs folder is for Maya on my Macbook Pro. I am having a ton of weird problems with Maya 2016 (Yosemite OS) and want to try deleting the preference folder, however I can't find it! I'm seeing that it is supposed to be in the LIbrary folder on Mac computers but mine is not there. Is there some other place it could be? Any help would be appreciated. I'm having a lot of problems and want to try this first.

You may be looking in the wrong library folder. (System vs. User.)

Open a finder window and click on your home folder. Then click on the gear icon at the top of the window and then "Show View Options." Make sure "Show Library Folder" is checked.

Then from your home folder, go to Library->Preferences->Autodesk->maya->2016. That's where your prefs folder will be.

why apple made it so complicated and made me wast hours on that.

I guess it will be another reason to switch to windows.
