Corrupted file after installing MtoA-Is there anything I can do

Hello. I completed a model in Maya the other day and needed to install Arnold (with which I have had other issues after installing), and when I did, the file somehow got corrupted completely. Upon reopening, it asked me if I wanted to save while not showing the model behind the popup, and seeing it was unusual, save it to a separate file to be safe, and after doing so, it appeared like the model was there, completely fine. I then save and exit open one file to find it empty. I then open the other and it is empty as well. When I checked, errors were displayed that seemed to indicate that some parts relating to the models existed somehow, and yet they would not show up anywhere. The file also has a larger file size than would be expected of an empty file. Lastly, as is annoyingly often the case for me, there was no autosave file at all. Is the file at all salvageable?

Is it saved as an .ma file?

In that case you could open it and investigate in a text editor.
