I imported a simulated and flat surface from outside maya in a .obj format.
When I try to quad draw on other meshes, either created inside maya or imported from elsewhere, I have no issues in making the mesh live and then using quad draw to make poly-surfaces upon it.
But when I do the same with the imported meshes, I get a "minus" sign on it and it stops me from doing a quad draw on the mesh.
Here are the pics :

Basically, after putting the mesh on live mode, whenever I hover my quad draw tool on it there's a minus icon saying I can't quad draw on it.
What's causing this issue?
