Can't open Maya 2022!

Hello, I have a trouble to open my Maya with this error message: Fatal Error. Attempting to save in C://Users/my_user_profile_name/AppData/Local/Temp/my_user_profile_name.

I tried:

-reinstalled

-added MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1 on Maya.env file

-added MAYA_CM_DISABLE_ERROR_POPUPS=1 , MAYA_COLOR_MGT_NO_LOGGING=1 , MAYA_DISABLE_CIP=1 , MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1 in Environment Variable.

And I attached MayaCrashLog below. It says:

//=====================================================
Maya Crash Report
//=====================================================

Exception code: C0000005: ACCESS_VIOLATION - illegal read at address 0x00000000
Fault address: D4941700 in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2022\bin\OpenColorIO_2_0.dll
0001:00080700 Logical offset (see .map file for location)

How to fix all these problem to open Maya!? I've researched a lot and tried many different solutions from internet but still not solved it. I have no more idea how to fix it..

Hello @Anonymous,

thanks for posting this question. I would suggest the following steps:

  • Perform a clean uninstall by following the steps from here: Perform a clean uninstall.
  • Make sure that popup blockers are deactivated when you are downloading the installer from your Autodesk Account. Two Maya 2022 installation files should be downloaded:Maya Download 2 files.jpg

  • Please check if the Maya user preferences are correctly written at C:\Users\<username>\My Documents\Maya\<version>\. See this article in case you have to reset the user prefs: How to reset the Maya Preferences to Default.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Patrick

I am running into the same issue with Maya 2022. Fatal Error: Attempting to save to user temp file when trying to open a scene. Ive already tried all the suggested fixes I could find including fixes I found for previous versions of Maya. The current list of things Ive tried: updating drivers, clean uninstall & reinstall, deleting the .dll file, renaming the pref file, renaming the maya file, adding the MAYA_DISABLE_CIP environment variable, also MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1, and importing the file into a new scene. Are there any other solutions I might be able to try?  Screenshot (1).png

Hello @Anonymous,

are you using the exact same plugins in Maya 2022 as in the version before? This could theoretically cause the crash at loading the file. Does Maya crash at loading specific scene files? Does is also crash if you are saving some simple objects in 2022 and reload the scene again?

Best regards,
Patrick

Hey hey!

Just want to pre-emptively say thank you and also I am so so so sorry because so much of what you asked I'm not sure about.  I'm currently taking a udemy course to learn Maya so I'm not actually that familiar with the software yet. Yikes. Not sure what a plug in is...so whatever comes automatically with Maya is what I probably have? I -think- I've only ever had the 2022 version.

The crash happens as I try to open a specific scene file but I have recreated the same model on three separate instances (entirely separate projects-not just new scene files in the same project) and it has happened every single time at some seemingly random point (2/3 crashes happened after switching workspace modes).

Its occurring on an "organic" human skeleton model (not sure if that's considered a simple object or not? I would assume not?) So its more than one file but its basically the same model three different times (Not imported-started from scratch. Fml).

I only have one other project that I have worked on but its never given me any problems. Although, the other project is quite a bit simpler than the skeleton. Not sure if its even relevant but I had just switched back from unwrapping uv's on my simple project when it started this time around.

I'll go see if I can find the plug ins and start there but do you have any other suggestions in case that isn't it?

Thank youuuuuu,

Jake's

I've been having this exact same problem and it's maddening because I'm doing this for class too. It opens downloaded files fine but once I set my project and edit them it will crash every time I try to re-open it so I have to do my assignment without closing it.

I did try the clean uninstall and re-setting the preferences to default like was listed here and that did not work. Right now the only thing that I can do to 're-open' a project is to import it into a completely new scene. This sort of worked for me, but I see that this did not work for Jake.

Really hope we can get some help from AutoDesk on this.

Hello @kes200002,

sorry to hear that you are experiencing the issues with Maya. Just to go sure, do you have OneDrive active on your machine, synchronizing the "Documents" folder? If so, please see here for more troubleshooting steps: Maya does not launch when OneDrive folder synchronization is active.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Patrick
