Blade shape

Hi guys. I'm really new to Maya and I trying to do the blade shape you see in the file below. I already try smooth and soft selection but I don't know if I should keep using this tools to make the shape or if it exist another tools to do this. Thanks in advance!

Maya will be find for modelling this (usually known as hard surface modelling).

Try using the polyExtrude, soft selection, rotate and scale manipulators.
