Bad tessellation when clicking on individual nurbs surfaces.

Something happens to my nurbs surfaces after I click on they're control objects (or even the surfaces them selves ) which are parent constrained to nurbs curves in a joint like hierarchy. As you can see in the screen cap, it is not a camera clipping issue, we could immediately rule that out. I have tried reinstalling maya and deleting preferences in documents folder to no avail. This is under a windows 8.1 machine. I have however, opened the file in another computer under windows 10 and it works as it should, the problem does not come up. For some reason, this website will not let me provide the file because it says that the file extension is not correct or some rubbish like that. So I could only provide a picture.bad.png.

Got it, will do, I also could fix it temporarily by going into preferences-NURBS display and pressing on either surface precision options. It creeps up when I restart maya. Here is the file.

Hi Marcos, I highly recommend finding a better polygon model, these are standards in the industry and much easier to work with and there are many types out there, what you have is extremely outdated.... just an idea, good luck.

Mspeer will assist you shortly and get you going again with this rig.

Honestly, I prefer NURBS for blocking out big shapes for use as reference in zbrush, and also using them for models such as the one in the image as reference for drawing. I find that they are much more elastic and quicker to push and pull around with control vertices than regular mesh objects. That's just me though, but I wasn't having this problem until recently, when I had to delete Maya's preference folder in documents because Arnold was crashing every single time I would hit the render button. By doing that, it fixed the rendering issue, but now I have the shading issue with NURBS surfaces. And who is to say that this issue won't affect any other aspect of Maya. But I have the temporary fix mentioned above, it would just be annoying to do it every single time I start out the file in Maya. Thanks for the reply though.

Hi!

I was not able to find anything suspect.

For me it looks similar to Camera Clipping and i was able to reproduce this behavior when using bad values for the camera (like simply importing the scene).

If that's not the problem i guess it's a problem of your GPU / driver + OS, which may lead to the same effect.

You could also try different Render Engines settings in Maya, which may affect this behavior too.

It is probably that I am running Maya under windows 8.1. I still don't think it is a clipping issue since as you could clearly see in the image, if it was a clipping issue, as far as I know, the rest of the objects would be affected also, not individual objects after selecting them individually. But as I said earlier, I managed to put a temporary but annoying fix by going into preferences, display, NURBS, surface precision, clicking either options, every time I would start Maya. That seams to fix it. Why Autodesk doesn't have Maya officially work under Windows 8.1 but still work under 7 ( which is practically dead now ) is beyond me. I can't use Windows 10 because of how horrible Wacom makes the drivers for that OS. My Wacom tablet works better under 8.1 with almost no problems. I guess I'm screwed either way.

Hi!

Windows 7 is much more famous and being used by much more people than Windows 8.

It's incredible how many Windows 7 users still don't want to switch the OS.

(But if i look at the alternatives...)
