Autodesk Application Manager failed to download and Maya 2016 startup error

I am on windows 10 and I have just bought maya so that I can use Maya 2016. When I installed it, it told me that something failed to download. Then it told me it was done but Autodesk Application Manager Failed to download and then on attempted startup of Maya 2016 I get this message

      License was not obtained

      Tried Maya 2016 (657H1 2016.0.0.F), error 20

      License method:

      environment variable MAYA_LICENSE_METHOD='standalone'

      Product choice:

      environment variable MAYA_LICENSE='unlimited'

      License file override:

environment variable MAYA_ALT_EN is not set

Please help. I have re-downloaded 3 times, updated my graphics driver and I have no clue what else I could do.

Please PM me your contact information, I can do a quick phone call and a remote PC session to help you out with this issue.

I would recommend downloading your Maya via your Autodesk Account and not using the Autodesk Application Manager, as it seems something might have gone wrong.  Due to interrupted internet connection? or fire wall interference?  or something just went wrong.

I look forward to your reply, cheers
