All Objects Missing From All Maya Files

Anonymous

Suddenly, all my files are blank. Nothing in the Outliner or any of the views. I have been searching for hours throughout the forum for a solution, but nothing as of yet.

Obviously really stressed out, lost an entire evening's work because of this.

I am on a Mac using Maya 2020.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Do you have saved .ma files?

If yes open them in Notepad+ and do a search if there are any nan errors and replace them with 0.

Yes to both questions. Additionally, the files I am trying to open originated not only from my work but also old and new tutorials I have on my computer. Some on an external drive and some on my hard drive.

I have opened and saved these files in the past two weeks and know there/were elements inside. However, now on all the files there is no trace of any work ever being done.

Been trying to narrow this down. I have tried to remove the nan, and I have also set my file to automatically save, as well as few YouTube videos that are trying to address this.

However, the problem still persists on all files, my and others, when opened no objects are included in anyway. It seems to me the act of saving is destroying the files which is ...um... problematic at best.

Have you tried to delete your prefs?

Thank you cg_oglu,

I think that did it. I also learned that if I open up a blank file first and then open the scene I can see all my old files.

However, if I click on the scene icon on my hard drive directly it will not disp[lay any information at all.

Thank you cg_oglu and by the way, your work is amazing!
