Adding a separator to custom shelf Maya 2018

I am currently setting up my maya 2018 shelves, but from what little information I can find on the forum, I am not able to find a way to create the separator in order to divide and organise my tools.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

I'm a little bit confused by "seperator". Do you mean how to make your tools a separate tab like the poly modeling tab for example?

If so to do that, all you have to do is:

1. Select the small gear next on the left of the shelves

2. Create New Shelf

3. Name your shelf

4. Add hotkeys/tools etc to new shelf

I hope this helps solve your issue but please feel free to let me know if the issue is still occurring and we can troubleshoot further!

Hi Sean, I'm afraid I may not have made my question clear enough. The separator is what can be placed on the shelf, it is essentially a small divider between tools in order to better group a set of tools on a single shelf. You can see the separators on the default shelves within maya (small unclickable verticle lines dividing sections of the shelf up). The previous version of Maya I used (2016) had a simple method of placing separators on the shelf within the bonus tools section. If you know of a way to placing separators in Maya 2018, that would be really appreciated.

Hi @Anonymous

Ah ok thank you for clarifying! You are correct that Bonus Tools has a nice simple tool that adds a separator and I just tested this and it works in Maya 2018!

We just released bonus tools for Maya 2018 a little while ago and you can download it here!

It should work fine for you as it just did for me and to clarify I'm on Update 1 of 2018.

I hope this solves your issue but please let me know if it doesn't and we can look into it further!

Hi Sean, thank you very much for your help, the bonus tools add-on was the solution as you said. As an additional bonus, the bonus tools add-on also contained many features I'm thoroughly enjoying. Cheers for the help 😊
