I have Maya 2016 student version. I bought a book from SDC publications for the vast amount of tutorials it contains. Many of the tutorials start out with, "select Windows>Rendering Editor>Render Globals. I can find no such menu command. The book is supposed to be specifically for Maya 2016. Is there any way of adding Render Globals to the command choices? The misinformation in this book is driving me nuts. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

I found nothing in the render settings dialog box that refers to "Render Globals".

Hi!

There is no Render Globals anymore, there is only Render Settings .

Let's try it different.

What do you expect to find, or what do you need in Render Globals?

This expensive, and piece of garbage text book I bought, was copywritten in 2015. The entire "Rendering a Scene" chapter is impossible to follow. Nearly every tutorial starts with "Select the Windows, Rendering Editor, Render Globals menu command. The Render Global Settings dialog box opens". The second instruction of the first tutorial reads "In the "Render Using" drop-down list, select Maya Software. A tab labeled Maya Software appears in the Render Global settings dialog box". The third instruction says "Select the Maya IFF image format". Maybe you can tell me how these instructions should be written in order for me to follow them properly? Thanks for any assistance you can give me!

Hi!

Sorry for this, the name "Render Globals" in the UI is not used anymore since many years.

But it's not a big problem. The main attributes for the now called "Render Settings" have not been changed.

You can select the Renderer (Render Using) you want and in the tabs shown for the renderer you find all the attributes you need.

I am very upset with this text book I bought. The copywrite says 2015, but the commands are ten or more years old. If the book had just said choose the render>render settings command, instead of windows>rendering editors>global settings. I wouldn't have had to go through all this back and forth about it. I opened render>render settings, and everything works fine. Thanks for your time and patience!

For Maya 2018.

  • Select Renderer from the window menu bar.
  • Click the square to bring up the next pop out box - Hardware Renderer 2.0 Settings.

*You can see in my screengrab that the box info and layout leaves something to be desired.

Basically you are selecting the hardwareRenderingGlobals indicated by the almost invisible tab.

  •  All the settings should be in here. You can use the select button to display it in the Channel Box/Attribute Editor also.
  • Same as using

Windows - Rendering Editors - Render Settings - Render Using -> set to ( Maya Hardware 2.0)

Click the tab for Maya Hardware 2.0.

Hope this is helpful to someone!
