Xgen — Spline to Interactive Groom Issue

Hi, I'm Wilson. Thanks for reading my quesion

After i finnished the hair shape in spline groom , I converted it to interactive groom to try linearWire. It's getting odd on the tip hair, here's the pic Xgen_20171113223955.jpg

As you see, the one without clump strech on the tip hair, but the one with clump works fine. Here is the problem ,the clump will broke the shape I converted form orignal spline. and i don't want it . So is any way that I can get the right result without broking the shape?

when you say you converted it, what exactly do you mean? You converted it from an XGen spline groom?

Yes, form Xgen spline groom to Interactive Groom. I'm sorry that I didn't say it clearly.

 

my quesion:

 

1. Dose Interactive Groom linearWire must need a clump modifier to works well (especially the tip hair like the Pic I upload) . 

 

2. When the Interactive Groom is convert from Xgen spline groom, How to avoid this strech hair without adding the clump modifier. Because adding a clump will change the  shape.

Ok. 

 

First, no, a clump modifier is not needed but I think you need some more info on what the conversion actually does.

 

When you convert a groom to Interactive Groom Splines, it bakes out the final result to primitives. It does NOT bake out density maps or modifiers, just the pure geometry of the final result is converted.

 

This will likely mean that you're linear wire modifier has guides all over the surface, not just in the area where the primitives are. If you were using desnity maps in XGen, you will need to recreate them in IGS to drive the guide placements. Any Clump modifiers will also be affected by this as clumps will be generated across the whole surface.

 

Another factor to bear in mind with conversion is that the density masking and multiplier on the converted grooms base node will not work as the hairs are not being generated by the base node, but are the baked result of the the XGen groom.

 

You can however, use the converted groom as an Interpolation source for a new, empty groom that will then be able to use the density maps and multiplier.
