xGen - scaling default spline and/or interactive groom descriptions workflow

Hello everybody,

 

we are setting up a character for a new show, it uses both default spline descriptions and interactive groom splines. The setup is done, and everything is working fine, - unfortunately due to special reasons, we had to change the scaling of the character!!! Topology and everything stayed!! So, now we need to adjust the xGen Setups, so that they fit the new scaling. After reading the docs and forum, i'm getting an idea how to do this, but at the same time getting more confused, because i couldn't find a clear solution.

 

Could someone please explain the workflow how it is possible to scale both, the default spline setup and the interactive groom setup?! What are the steps that have to be taken? Import/export and apply to scaled geo, or export splines to curves create new description and import curves?! how about the parameter settings, do they have to be adjusted(divided by the scale factor??

 

Maybe Michael Todd, as a developer of the xGen Tool could give us some input how to do this the right way.

 

Would really appreciate if someone could give insight into this topic! We need a solution that is production ready, and won't cause any unexpected problems later during the show, due to scaling offsets etc.
