Two Bifröst liquids – can they interact?

hi, i was thinking about mixing two bifrost liquids – which, at this point, obviously is not possible. however, is it possible to create two liquid containers/emitters with different colours and different viscosity and make them see the other one as an obstacle? in my test – a small sphere with zero gravity, and a large cube above with standard gravity – the particles from the top just fall through the ones around the sphere. Maya 2018.3 that is.

the collider command expects at least one mesh. thanks for your input!

Hi!

No, this is currently not possible.

With 2 Bifrost "environments" you'll get 2 independent simulations.

However you should be able to use a generated output mesh of one simulation as collider for a second simulation, but because of the changing topology of the mesh you may get unexpected results. Just try it.

If you use multiple emitters within one Bifröst sim, you can paint attributes on the mesh of the emitters. Currently this is limited to expansion rate and density.

To paint these, just right-click on the emitter mesh and choose the attribute from the Bifröst fluid maps submenu.

To get different colors in your render, you can also highjack the density. See https://youtu.be/YaJnlEVwkAs for this. It might not be completely up-to-date with the current Bifröst version, but the principles are still valid.

Is there a way this can be done in 3ds Max as I cannot see the same bifrost settings?
