Need help with bullet rigid set issue

Hello, I am having a problem getting a rigid body set to work on this group. I have no idea what the problem is. I used fracture voronoi in max and exported as fbx into maya to shatter the object. When I go to apply the rigid set to the group all the pieces separate from each other.

Before Rigid SetBefore Rigid SetAfter Rigid SetAfter Rigid Set

Use Maya FX > Shatter instead for bullet.

I was hoping to avoid that since maya's shatter is not so great

Hi!

Check Collision Shape Type and Collision Shape Margin (bulletRigidSetInitialState)

Please read the Maya Online Help / Documentation for more details.

You can also display Collision Shape in bulletSolverShape -> Solver Display -> Collision Shape

I've set the collision shape margin to 0 and collision shape type to hull in the second photo. Also I cannot seem to even use Maya's shatter because the moment I apply it Maya crashes.

The shatter module is optimized to work best with all the latest updates installed. Have you installed all the latest updates?

Also make sure you are using Viewport 2.0 and Parallel Evaluation and that your meshes are clean.

If sometimes user mesh cannot be very "clean" try this:

Hi!

1. Don't use Maya Shatter, it's not needed here. It won't help anyway, because your problem is after shattering and with a complete different tool.

2. Please upload a scene-file

You are probably right. Shatter is not needed. Neither is Maya.

It has to be done in Maya. Here is the scene file

The funny thing is that we won't use Maya Shatter because of what it is.

We use other packages to do the shattering because they work. Maya will just crash 99% of the time.

Bullet is not even a Maya tool for that matter. It is a third party tool shoehorned into Maya.

Makes one wonder. What the point of paying for and using Maya really is.

Hi!

The problem is the scaling of your shattered pieces. (Pivots needed for rotation are also wrong.)

Reset Transformations and also Center Pivot(s).
