xgen random frame glitches

hi kind people of maya forums!

so i have an enveloped human, with an extracted scalp, with groomed spline based long hair on it.

the character is animated, and has some blend shape anim for facial stuff... all pretty normal.

the scalp is proximity wrapped to the head, and this might be my first mistake

when i batch render (many machines or just one in sequence) the hair will on random frames jump (small clump of hairs will shoot up on end)

i saw a post suggesting parenting the scalp to the head bone in the rig, but seeing as the character is now animated and kind of signed off, i have a problem that when i delete the proximity wrap deformer, the scalp moves off the head... (yeah yeah, i know, bind pose, etc etc... but there is one, it still moves... not quite sure why)

i tried caching the guide hairs as alembic and using them in the animation tab of the xgen primitives... and frankly it was worse! the weird thing is when i step through in maya, with the hair set to auto update.. it looks fine, no jumping...

any thoughts?

thanks

A

update, if i render a single 'batch' through the farm (ie whole sequence on one machine) it still glitches

however

if i render in an interactive maya, the whole sequence.. it doesn't glitch.. so is the farm having issues occasionally finding the baked out patches?

anyone else finding this, or am i just lucky!

i have 24 sequences (about 900k frames total) to render this weekend, and it looks like i'll be doing it on 10 machines interactively!

can't believe i'm back here agian!

same deal, wrap deformed scalp on rigged animated characters producing random hair glitches on the farm, interactives render ok.... 22 characters 24 sequences each, 275 frames per sequence... fml!

autodesk, fix the xgen bugs please!!!!!

I am seeing this as well...wrapped deform scalp geo leads to hair glitching/jittering every other frame.

what would happen if you used a skincluster for the scalp?
