What method or process do I need to follow to achieve this effect with wings

Hello!

I hope that you are doing well!

I'm in the process of rigging a humanoid character with wings, for the purpose of be animated and put into unreal engine.

I was referencing a bird rig from another artist and couldn't figure out how he was able to have wrists control, shape and splay the feather out. He also he has these other controls, like a shape control for the feathers, that helps  build better poses.

I'm still quite new to rigging, But I feel really stumped here.

I have video for refence if that helps:

Please let me know if you need any clarification or extra photo/videos

Please have an amazing an day!

Typically, it's just linear interpolation between the controls (yellow, blue, red, etc).

You can do this mathematically or use constraints and set the appropriate weight values.

I see! Thank you!

I had one more question, I didn't know how to set the joints correctly. Should the outer, middle and end feathers be separate from their joints.

The bird's wrist joint is separate from the last outer feather. But didn't know if that meant anything.
