Weird translation issue on imported controls

Hey all,

I'm currently animating a couple of differend characters. Before I start I copy over the animations from one character to the other and then start working from there....
However, I currently have a very weird issue where the imported rigs translations aren't on the same scale as the already existing rig.

For example,
The imported characters pelvis is 5 units high (if I drag it to the floor it will be -5).
If I drag the other characters pelvis to the floor it will be  -178
Not exactly numbers that seem to match.

Some other things to keep in mind/ things I checked
Both files work in centimeters
I imported a maya binary file, obj and fbx don't work.
The animation works perfect on the imported character (even tough the translations don't seem to correspond to the world)
Rotation works fine
The issue is not on all curves
restarting maya did not work.
Moving the curves on the imported character doesn't reset the numbers, it will keep using the original lower units.
Using maya 2016

I seriously have no idea what's cousing this and I've never seen anything similair. Any people here who have had a similair experience or have suggestions?

I didn't fix it. But I managed a work around. I parent constrained an object to the controller, baked the animation and exported the objects. This time the translations worked like normal.
