Update Maya to 2022

The current version of Maya I have right now is 2019. Is there any way to update the software to 2022?

You can install Maya 2022 besides Maya 2019.

Just download and install the product from your Autodesk account.

And what happens to the files? Will they be converted so that they work on the latest version?

Usually Maya 2022 should not have any problem to open scenes from Maya 2019, but Maya versions are not 100% compatible with each other, so to achieve the best result make sure the scenes do not have any history and export important models in a additional format like FBX or OBJ.

There is no automatic update or replacement of Maya files or the Maya 2019 product, Maya 2022 is a separate and independent application.
