sync yellow slider in graph editor with time slider

Good day all,

I am sending a screen shot.  Does anyone know when I play the time slider can the yellow slider in the graph editor play with it.  Every time I play the time slider the yellow slider with frame rate in the graph editor disappears?

Is there a way to make sure when I try to scrub through the animation that the graph editor time (yellow bar) follows with my scrub or play?

Please advise you will see the green arrows in my screen shots.

Thank you,

Steve

Hi @stevenfila7

This is unusual and may be a design change since this doesn't happen in 2017 but does happen in 2018.

A simply workaround is to go to Windows->Settings/Prefs->Animation and change the Graph Editor from Modern to Classic

This will change the overall look of the graph editor and instead of a yellow line it will be red but it will stay when you scrub the timeline.

I'm going to look into this more and try and find out if it's indeed an issue or if it was a design change.

Good day Sean,

Sorry for the delayed response.  Yes, it works with the classic is there a way for it to work with the modern style of the graphic editor?

Please advise,

Steve

Hi @stevenfila7

I just tested again and I think this is a design change.

The yellow line appears for me when I scrub the timeline but not when I play which makes sense because if you're just playing the animation you shouldn't need to see it.

Is the line disappearing when you scrub the timeline?

Hi Sean!

Thanks for your response.

Yes, the line disappears when I scrub. It disappears in modern mode not
in classic mode.

Hi @stevenfila7

What GPU are you using and are the drivers up to date?

Steps to update your drivers can be found here!

This is most likely an issue with your GPU and or your Maya settings so you could also try deleting your settings/preferences but please check your GPU first!

Hi Sean,

Thanks for getting back.  Sorry I won't be able to check my computer specs now.  I am not in front of my mac workstation.

When I get home.

Also, I am running a mac operating system.

What is your direct email so I can contact you then?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi @stevenfila7

Ah ok I didn't realize you were on a Mac.

When you get home, can you post back and let me know what version of Mac os you are on?

I'll be heading out shortly for the weekend but I'll be sure to respond to you first thing Monday morning!

Hey Sean!

The scrubbing seems to work. Now is there a way when you play the scene in
maya (not playblast) to sync them both?

Enjoy your weekend my friend-

when I was looking for the same answer back then I found a post with an official response

(it didn't mention to delete your prefs Smiley LOL)

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-animation-and-rigging/maya-2018-graph-editor-problem/m-p/7235866...

so it might be added in a future release..

Is there no support database that contains such things? (issues DB) rather than suggesting to delete the prefs each and every time.

Hi Sean,

I'm using Maya 2020, and whenever I click the curve the yellow slider will go back automatically to frame 0, do you happen to have a solution?
