query current time in expressions

Hello,

I'm trying to query the current time in an expression and am typing: 

$frame = currentTime -query;

its coming up with "attribute not found or variable missing '$': query". Any ideas?

Also if anyone sees this and gets a syntax error, the symbols he used are `(just above the tab key for windows), not '.
