How do you rename a referenced Geo safely?

When you have made 100 animations using a file that references Geo/Skeleton together

- How do you rename the Geo without breaking every file that references that geo?

because if you simply rename the geo that is being referenced, in all files that are opened which use this reference, it creates a parent geo and rips the geo off the skeleton?

Surely there must be a SAFE method to renaming referenced Geo files?

Thankyou.

The solution is: never rename referenced files. Trying to do it is a big mistake. 🙂
