Graph editor 'working range' jumping back and forth

Hi!

Newbie question. I'm working on game animations and making each animation consecutively in Maya's timeline. But when working on animations around/above the 1000 frame mark in the graph editor, it becomes difficult to animate, since when I select a new control, the time slider jumps to the range 0-(whatever animation/playback end frame I set). So even if I've highlighted the animation/playback area 1100-1200, for example, Maya shows frame 0-1200 when I select a new control and I have to zoom in on my current "working area" time after time. And the curves visually look warped and are hard to work with unless I select some frames and press F.

Is there any way to make the graph editor stay in one place? Or is there something I could change in my workflow?

Thanks.

Found a solution in case someone is wondering the same thing, Graph editor > View > (untick) Auto Frame. It doesn't work ideally imo, as it doesn't take adjust the vertical space anymore (so you still have to zoom in/out to see the whole curve). But it's easier to work with than before.
