What happens if I reshape a model that contains corrective blendshapes?

Hey guys,

Suppose I have a fully rigged character with corrective blendshapes.

And I wanna change the shape of his arms, legs (like making his arms more muscular for example).

What would happen with all those corrective blendshapes?

Like, would they still be activated when I move the character?

If so, how would they now look like, since I've made changes in the characters body shape?

Would they still look ok or I'd have to create new corrective blendshapes in order to replace the old ones? Thank you!

Basically, you can create one more blendshape, where your model is muscular.

And then, it depends on how much the updated version will differ from the original - for more pronounced areas you might need to adjust some correctives too.. Can be easier done when you have Pose-Space-Deformations (Pose Editor).

Yea, you could make a muscular blend shape that's always turned on. If that works then that would be easiest.

In the past I followed this video to update a set of blend shapes after a model change:

If you create a muscular shape as another blend target, you'll want the parallel blend so that you maintain the muscles when the corrective shapes are applied.

Hey guys,

Thank you for the answers. So I created a muscular shape as another blend target and here's what happened: whenever I rotate the legs or arms they start to return to the their original shape.

So as I can see, each corrective blendshape must be specifically created based on its original shape. Which makes sense.
