Shape Editor not showing blend shapes of suplicated object

hi guys,

a quick question: I've an object with a blend shape set on it. I want to duplicate this object and keep the same blend shape.

Then, I've duplicated special, ticked "Duplicate input graph" and obtained a new object with the correct blend shape in it. However, in the Shape Editor, I can find only the blend shape of the first object and not that of the duplicated one.

How to "update" the Shape Editor to show also the duplicated blend shapes?

Thanks

After trying different methods finally I figured out how to do it manually, and the way out is to re-create new blendshape in shape editor for your duplicated mesh, activate each blend shape one at a time with one target at value of 1 leaving others with zero, duplicate a mesh  as long as you did duplicate special with Input Graph, after getting all blendshapes for your mesh (BY DUPLICATING ACTIVATED BLENDSHAPES) select all duplicated and go in shape editor under blendshape Right Click and select add selection as target and you'll have  all your blendshapes, now you mesh has multiple blendshapes, select old blend shape and delete it (you can do that through outliner, Channel box, Hypergragh: Connection and node editor, take your favorite).

This is still an issue in maya2020.

To Fix:

1. Close Shape Editor.

2. Delete all input and output connections of the shapeEditorManager node in the node editor.

3. Re-open Shape Editor.

How do you access the connections of the ShapeEditor manager in the node editor? I've only ever used the node editor for relationships of in-scene objects.

Couple of ways:

  1. You can type  "select shapeEditorManager" without quotes into the mel line and hit enter. Then open Node Editor and graph input and output connections.
  2. You can right click in the Outliner and turn off "show dag objects only" the shapeEditorManager node will now be visible somewhere in Outliner.  Select it and graph input and output connections Node Editor.
