rig goes weird when applying to motion capture

so I've downloaded a metahuman from quixel bridge and created character definitions from the skeleton that it comes with and created a default control rig. But when I add it to motion capture that is already in maya, nothing is correct to how it should be. Not sure what is going wrong, hope someone can help.

looks like you got a Y up vs Z up issue.

This is very common,, Unreal likes to work with Z up, while Maya defaults to Y up.

You need to offset the mocap so that it's orientation works with Z up

so I think the best way to handle this. Is to load import a fresh metaHuman,

or when you open it. Make sure to turn them -90 on their placement joint.

to set the Y and Z up .. goto Windows -> Settings/Preferences --> Preferences    (or the small gear and running man icon in the lower Right of your maya )

in the preferences window. goto the "settings" ( on the left). and then you can change the World Coordinate System to Y )
