My Geometry and Rigs are all covered in brown spots

Good morning,

I am currently updating my demo reel with new shots and I have an issue with any maya file I open with character rigs now.  For some reason all the geometry is covered in brown spots as if its in vertex mode.  I convened with my friend in the industry on solutions, but found no resolution.  This is how it comes out looking.

If any professionals or otherwise have suggestions with Maya to remove the brown spots coating these files please let me know as Ibrownspotsissue.png am currently stumped.

When you select the skin and invoke paintSkinWightsTool, what are colors of the swatches next to each influence?

Also, do you have DisplayVertices enabled in the MeshComponentDisplay section, shape node?

Hi!

This is a wild guess since there isn't all that much info to go on from just one screenshot.

This view normally appears when you are in UV selection mode and have "highlight selection mode" turned on. But that normally only happens if you are in component selection mode, which you aren't.
So my guess would be that your maya somehow got stuck in component selection mode.

I hope this helps!
