Maya rigging / skinning problem

I have spent a few days rigging this character now but near the end I accidently deleted part of the character, which then made all of the skin weights go completley mental. I tried to correct some of it but it would make a completley different part of the character get skinned rather than what I was painting. please can someone help me with this issue as the character was tricky to rig.
