Maya Move Tools Moves without Model

Hello Forum,

Im incredibly new to maya and ive been working on the animation for a school project. For some reason after locking the first keyframe say frame 48 if I try to move the model the move tool  and the controls will move without the model. If i press another object the move tool will come back to the model but sometimes may move the model and sometimes may not! Also after this occurs the gears on the model which are supposed to move with the move tool to create the effect of the treads moving will not occur!

Hey it seems that my file might be a bit to large is there any other way I can send you it? Also Maya mysteriously fixed it by itself so that is no longer a problem, but.  I ran into another problem, for the EVE model (scene attached in future), I had accidentally set the key frames to the group eve_openFBXASCO32body. But when I click on the body of the model it shows it is polySurface 430. Now when I move that mesh into the group or copy and paste the keyframes it messes up the animation. Would it be best to just leave it alone and just animate the group by selecting it in the outliner and continuing or is there anyway of fixing it?

Here are some screen grabs ( note i moved polySurface 430 into the group it was not orignally in there and it messes up the animation if i do move it into the group)

Hey @Anonymous

Honestly I would continue animating that group node because if you say when you move the hierarchy around it ruins your animation and I'm assuming you've animated quite a bit already I would leave it as it is, mainly cause her character is super simple as a rig and its mainly her textured eyes that give her life.

So yes, continue with the group node I would say if trying to fix it messes what you already got done.
