Maya 2024 Playblast not playing, it just showing blank screen

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with the Playblast function in Autodesk Maya 2024. Whenever I try to create a Playblast, it results in a blank screen. Here are the details:

• Maya Version: 2024
• Operating System: [Windows 11]
• Issue Description: When I attempt to Playblast my animation, the output is just a blank screen. I’ve tried resetting the settings and ensuring the correct file type and directory are selected, but the problem persists.
• Steps Taken:
  1. Reset Playblast settings.
  2. Set the format to “.avi”.
  3. Selected the file type and directory.
  4. Attempted Playblast.

This is not an answer, but I have had many students have this issue as well when using a Mac and the Animation workspace. There is something broken on the workspaces (or at least that workspace in particular) so that there is a window that appears hidden somewhere, and the playblast is recording that blank window, instead of the viewport. 

The workaround that I have given them is to switch back to the default or modeling workspace, save, and then restart Maya. It is a bummer because I recommend the Animation workspace in all of my tutorials for them.

Hi, I was having a similar issue but I fixed it by going into the "show" tab, scrolling all the way down to "playblast display" and clicking on "none" and selecting "polygons". for some reason the playblast settings break sometimes and it doesn't show what you have selected, so you have to reset them sometimes. I hope this helped you!
