Advanced Skeleton Lip Setup Error

I was setting up the face of the character with the Advanced Skeleton, but at the lips, I get this error:

Error: file: C:/Users/Matthew Suckstorf/Documents/maya/2024_backup/scripts/AdvancedSkeleton/AdvancedSkeleton.mel line 29660: More than one object matches name: LipSetup

Is there a way to resolve this problem?

Did you maybe have some stuff in the scene when you tried to build the face? That would explain why there was already a node named "LipSetup"

I didn't. But now I got an error reading:

Error: file: C:/Users/Matthew Suckstorf/Documents/maya/2024_backup/scripts/AdvancedSkeleton/AdvancedSkeleton.mel line 29993: No object matches name: upperLipJoint8_L

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Yes, I did. I checked under FaceGroup, and I found the group that's also named "LipSetup". How can I fix the issue?

It sounds like there are two possible reasons.

  1. There is stuff in the scene leftover from a previous build attempt and that is causing Advanced Skeleton to error because there are multiple nodes with the same name.
  2. There is an issue with the Advanced Skeleton code itself.

The second option seems unlikely, unless maybe you are using an old version of it. So I would suggest try setting up the rig starting from a fresh scene with just your model and nothing else.

If possible could you share a screen recording of what you're doing, and maybe share the whole stack trace of the error too?

Did you get that error when running the script from a fresh scene?

A screen recording of your process would help a lot. Obs is the screen recorder I recommend.

For future reference it's better to do a new reply rather than edit your existing one, otherwise it can get confusing for anyone reading messages later.

Unfortunately that screen recording doesn't help much. If you could do a screen recording starting from either just your model, or a step where neither lipSetup groups have been created yet, and end the recording after you get the error, that would be a lot more helpful.
