How to duplicate a rig?

I notice if I try to duplicate a rig, the copy of the rig loses its skin binding. Looking through the forum the only advice I see is to import another instance of the rig. Is this the only way to get an other duplicate in a scene?

Hi,

"import another instance of the rig" That's the only best way.

When you start an animation project, it is recommended to reference you rig in the scene (via reference editor).

This way you can duplicate the reference as many times as you want.

When you reference a file, Maya is only reading the file and  place it in the scene without actually importing it.

If you do changes in your original rig file,

Those changes will be reflected in all the duplicated references of your animation scenes.

This means you can start the animations even if your rig is not finished.

Cheers.
