Having trouble exporting animation to Unreal Engine

Hi, I'm a beginner on exporting animations to any game engines and the rig I'm using is confusing me on what I should export. I know that for efficiency reasons you only need to export the joints and geometry for the skeletal mesh and only the joints for animations.

 

While following a youtube tutorial, I deleted everything except the Joints Root and the GEOs I'll be using for my animation and it makes some of the joints move elsewhere it should be in maya. Tried to export an FBX of what was said to be exported in the tutorial and some parts of the animation are twisted all over the place in Unreal. 

 

I would really be grateful if anybody could take a look into this rig to see what I should export. 

For specifications, The only weapon I'm using for the animation is the stick and I'm not using the tail and mask.
