Component editor won't display smooth skin values

Happened suddenly in the middle of working on a scene.  I closed the component editor and reopened it, and the smooth skin values were gone.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Maya (both 2025.2 and 2025.3), and deleted my preferences, and tried in multiple fresh scenes.  Cannot get them back for the life of me.

Hi, Values ​​are associated with vertex. You must select them to see them in the component editor, not the mesh itself

omg I swear I knew that.  Had insomnia last night and must have destroyed my last few brain cells.
